'American Realities' opens at New Image Art...

'American Realities' opened last night at New Image Art in West Hollywood to a packed house. The works of Lydia Fong (aka Barry McGee), Clare Rojas and Andrew Jeffrey Wright were on display and did not disappoint. These three always deliver and have done numerous shows together over the years and are great friends as well, and it shows.

McGee really showed strength through diversity with this show, and exhibited a ton of great work. The above wall of geometrics was different than usual, in that it highlighted the words 'Lydia' in the collage make up...

One of McGee's signature "wall pimples" in full effect... below numerous close ups of other choice works from McGee that caught our eye...

How does he paint these? Hard to even look at without going all crosseyed... awesome.

Several of his highly detailed ballpoint pen works were included in the show...

The gem of the show, in my opinion, was hidden most of the night as it was in the shadow of a pedestal that held one of McGee's sculptures... but he's a tendency to put awesome pieces in crazy places and that's why going to his shows are always so fun...

Classic McGee.

Unique install from McGee featuring his new direction of works...

And another install from McGee...

Close up of one of McGee's newer pieces... incorporating his use of geometrics still, but more minimal in certain aspects...

Me wants :)

Clare's new works were just beautiful... over 30 new pieces were included in the show...

My favorite of the new pieces from Rojas...

In the project room were the works of Andrew Jeffrey Wright...

Where a trashcan was filled with Furbies... but once one walked around the back, they found an automated Frubie that kind of mimiced the traveling installation piece from McGee that had Amaze bombing a bathroom (that was housed in the back of an old truck trailer)... genious this lil' install was, be sure to check it out when you swing through (as you could well miss it).

The whole project room was just taken over by Wright - one of the walls above. His view on life and things in general, is 100% unique and all Wright.

Andrew Jeffrey Wright delivered a short set of his unique stand up comedy...

While Barry McGee and the crowd looked on...

Above, ithe crowd gathers to hear Peggy Honeywell (Clare Rojas' alter-ego)... her acoustic driven songs are just beautiful and I can't recommend enough picking up some of her albums...
