Shows to hit this weekend...

Been swamped with travels these past few weeks, not to mention taking down Kathie & Brandt's show and getting ready for our openings tomorrow night. The week before last I made a trip out to NYC and Brooklyn where many good things were put into motion and earlier this week I also swung up to SF for a couple days to visit some galleries and to meet with Armsrock to discuss plans for our big show with him and Elbow-Toe this December. He's KILLING the Upper Playground gallery up there with D*Face - their show opened tonight to what had to be a packed crowd. The gallery looked so amazing when I swung through, and they still had a day to add to it. They were both getting up all over SF. Armsrock laid down one of his signature sleeping homeless pieces on the sidewalk next to the opening of Fifty24SF - gripping to see in person. If you are in SF the next few weeks, don't miss this one. Also, on the Upper Playground tip, keep your ear to the ground for the opening of their LA spot.

I'll be back on track next week with the early head's up on the underground happenings. As mentioned above, things have just been a bit nutty. Considering most spots will barely tell ya' about a killer show next door to 'em, we're happy to always keep the community spirit alive by spreading the word.

Here's a quick overview of the shows we'll be hitting this week, and our own show opening tomorrow...

THIS FRIDAY:
- Thinkspace open "Uncommon Gardens" with Catherine Brooks, Caia Koopman, Lilly Piri and Kelly Vivanco + new ones from Kris Chau in the project room
- Our man Derek Albeck and heavy metal artist supreme French invade the Berdhouse Gallery out in Echo Park

ON SATURDAY:
- Mr. Luke Chueh has his big solo at Copro Nason, as does the one and only Chet Zar... don't miss this one
- Scion sees the big "Installation 4: It's A Beautiful World" finally roll into town after a long travel around the globe to all sorts of cool spots, including last year's Art Basel. A who's who for sure, so don't miss this - public action starts at 8 after the vip/press fest
- Over in Culver City, Freddi C is pulling double duty with action going on at her new Lab 101 Space with new works from Isaac Bushkin, Matt Stallings and Jacob McClure AND the beloved Joshua Krause rocks the house over at the Lab's old digs, now the new and improved Cerasoli Gallery - come out and support Mr. Krause, it promises to be quite the show if I know him
- I tell ya, if you miss this one... Billy Shire Fine Arts KILLS IT this Sat with a dual assault of Scott Musgrove and the lovely Elizabeth McGrath... the preview is amazing - DO NOT MISS!!!
- Caleb Neelon takes over the Carmichael Gallery... with his work infused with leaves, it's like a lil' bit of fall coming to LA in the late spring... he's got a killer mural up on La Brea too around the corner from 1988... check it out
- All around stand up cat Aaron Kraten rocks a solo down the Long Beach way at Alpha Cult
- Custom rocker Wavedog also invades Long Beach on Sat at DDR Projects
- Speaking of making a drive, if you are feeling like going out to Alhambra, Nucleus are rockin' a pretty solid all girl show by the name of "La Femme" with KuKula, Amy Sol, Brandi Milne (wait, where have I heard that lineup before...), Julie West, Mari Inukai, Miss Mindy and a slew more - should be a good one
- Cannibal Flower and Hive regular Walt Hall invades Monkey House in Silver Lake
- Last but not least, a cool show curated by Annie Wharton by the name of "Dream World" rolls into Jail Gallery downtown with a variety of works in a wide range of mediums - looks cool

Congrats to Joe Ledbetter on what looked like a solid signing event at Munky King on Melrose tonight - Jack from VinylPulse.com was live bloggin' the hell out of that thing - go Jack!

See you all on Friday night and hopefully out and about on Sat - SOOO many killers shows this weekend, we are blessed to be living in LA!
