We first posted about this special show here back in late March. Audrey has recently updated her blog with a new image of works in progress (above). She continues to excel and the new works are just beautiful. Very much looking forward to seeing all the works in the show, as I'm sure many of you are as well. Soon as we see more, we'll be sure to post here to share.

Audrey Kawasaki prepares for 1st solo in Japan...

Audrey Kawasaki is preparing for her debut solo exhibition in Tokyo, Japan at Space Yui. It will be a small show with about 10 paintings and drawings. The show will be on view from 5/07 to 5/16.

The folks over at Artillery have also covered our November exhibition, this time focusing on the main gallery's exhibit, The Drawing Room - curated by Audrey Kawasaki. The review of the show will be in the new issue hitting galleries and museums this week. There is also a very interesting feature / mini-interview (though I'm misquoted once or twice) with Audrey that is an online exclusive with Artillery - check it out here.

On top of all that, Juxtapoz ran some great shots from the opening reception, including a priceless shot of Karpinski passed out at evening's end in the lil' chair from his installation.

"The Drawing Room" opening night... / prints sold out...

Thank you to all that came out and made last night such a huge success for Audrey and all in 'The Drawing Room'. It was awesome to have 11 of the 24 featured artists and Audrey herself in the house for the opening, as well as Robert Pokorny and Timothy Karpinski (both of whom were showing in our project room).

Audrey sold out before the doors opened (as did many in her curated group show) and once the doors did open, her two special limited edition giclee prints that were created for the exhibition quickly followed suit and were sold out by 10PM - 400 prints in 4 hours, it was a whirlwind in our office to say the least. We've already seen some up on eBay, really saddens Audrey when this happens... You think people could come up with a better way to make money than flipping limited edition prints and toys. Pathetic low lifes.

The line to view the works and purchase prints went around the block all night long. What a night!!! The LA art world was out in force as well with many big names rolling through to check out the show and pay their respects to Audrey.

There are still some amazing pieces on hand from those Audrey curated, so be sure to check our site. She really did an amazing job curating this show and all that attended seemed to really enjoy the works on view. Look for more soon...

We will open early at 6PM for "The Drawing Room" reception this Fri, Nov. 7th to help with the flow of print sales.

There will be NO phone orders and NO internet orders. This is all as Audrey has requested, as she wants these prints to be special for patrons attending opening night/weekend.

With 200 of each, we should have plenty to last throughout the night, so I don't think there's any need for anyone to go lining up on Friday... but if you do, it's all good, doors will open at 6PM.

Please know we'll be doing our best to police these going up on ebay too - so please don't come with the notion of simply going home and uploading to the web, as that's just lame.

The prints came out beautiful, as did the show, can't wait for all to see this one in person.

The Drawing Room comes to life...

The Drawing Room started to come to life tonight. Audrey is recreating the studio/inspiration area of her home in our front install area for all to take in.

Great first night of install and all really brought their A game to the show. Fun night this eve with a big Italian feast had by all as well as a visit from the folks at Arrested Motion (Marcus Lo seen talking below with Audrey and her boyfriend Brian) as well as a very special visitor...

That visitor being Josh Herman from Artillery magazine done up as 'Lydia', one of Audrey's more popular paintings (see below), to help break the mood a bit as he was swinging through to do a brief interview for his magazine... classic. Definitely lightened the mood to say the least hahaha... Look for an interview with Audrey and an overview on the show in the next issue of Artillery.

For those of you on the waiting list for this show, the preview link will go out late Wednesday night and we'll begin reaching out to all on Thursday throughout the day (full details will be included in the preview mail itself).

A look inside the The Drawing Room...

Audrey Kawasaki recently posted a couple of sneak peeks on her live journal (see above). There will be a dozen works in the show featuring five on wood and seven on paper, plus an installation in our front entry area (more on that soon). We will be announcing details on a special print (or two) that will be available only at the opening night's reception as well here in the coming days (stay tuned).
