Scott Radke's journal...

If you haven't checked out Scott Radke's website lately, he's launched a great online journal a ways back and there are many teasers of works from our upcoming show with him, "Pins & Needles", that opens next Fri in our project room.

We'll have 15 new works on view from Scott Radke and there will also be 9 new works from fellow sculpture artist Kevin Titzer, whose found metal and hand-carved wood sculptures are just a perfect compliment to Scott's stunning creations. Very excited for next Fri - thinkspace will be buzzing from front to back in a big way.

Scott's online journal: http://scottradke.livejournal.com/

And while you are at it, here's Kevin's site: http://www.kevintitzer.com/wp_bio.html

Be sure to roll through next Fri if you are in town, and if not, know all works will be viewable online come the day of the show (and before if you're interested in purchase, so please drop a mail to contact@sourharvest.com now to get on the waiting list for the preview).

Nick Walker sightings?

One of the UK's most beloved vandals is in town this week for his big debut LA solo show.

Nick Walker is the man, so don't sleep on this... and keep an eye out about town, hopefully he'll grace us with some works on the streets to remember him by after he's gone home.

This Sat @ Carmichael.

Hi Fructose to cover KuKula & KMNDZ in upcoming issue...

We're excited to hear that Hi Fructose will be doing features on KuKula and KMNDZ in their next issue. Both totally deserve the love and we can't wait for our upcoming shows with both later this year.

Big congrats go out to Ert O'Hara too, who is the new managing assoicate editor over at Hi Fructose. Ert rules, so be sure to drop her a line of congrats if you get the time.

Look for big things to come from them in the coming year.

Also, if you missed it mentioned earlier, there's another new mag tossing its hat in the ring - look for Stretching Canvas on stands now.

On that tip - don't miss the amazing Twist feature in the new Swindle now on stands!

Sorry to anyone that headed out to Sublimal Projects last night...

We ourselves planned to hit it up, only to check the site real quick for some info, to find they pushed the opening back to April... after taking out a 2-page spread in Juxtapoz and all, so apologies to anyone that made the trip for nothing. Looks like the wait will be well worthwhile, as they know will kick things off with the debut LA solo show of France's very own Blek Le Rat - the grandfather of the entire stencil movement. Should be amazing!

LA Weekly posts pics from API Fight For Flight show...

The LA Weekly just posted a nice slide show of images from the API benefit "Fight For Flight"... check them out here: http://www.laweekly.com/index.php?option=com_slideshow&type=1&gallery=1036&Itemid=565

Show will remain online for the next couple of weeks, some amazing works still on hand and remember 20% goes to the API - so a great cause is being helped at the same time.

Look for the preview for "Sour Hearts & Sweet Tarts" to follow this coming week - the girls have really out done themselves with over 15 pieces on view from each for the exhibit.

Flavorpill & Vinyl Pulse: Fight For Flight reviews...

Flavorpill & Vinyl Pulse: Fight For Flight reviews...

VinylPulse.com review of "Fight For Flight" with behind-the-scene images:
http://www.vinylpulse.com/2008/01/preview-of-figh.html

"Pieces vary from elegant to humorous -- nice mix to choose from. In the front room, P. Williams was hard at work on his clever "Blast a Duck" installation which is a shooting gallery complete with hand-painted motorized birds and IR rifle." - VinylPulse

Flavorpill.net preview for "Fight For Flight":
http://flavorpill.com/losangeles/events/2008/1/4/fight-for-flight-a-special-benefit-for-the-api-in-honor-of-national-bird-day

"Friday's Dewars/Grolsch-sponsored reception offers viewers a first glance at the works before they go on sale. On Saturday, bring the kids by for a coloring contest and tour of the collection. And if you feel the need to grab a piece up before it flies the coop, all the better" - Flavorpill

New mag STRETCHING CANVAS now on stands...

There's a new magazine making it's debut currently by the name of STRETCHING CANVAS: Outsider Art At Its Finest.

It's put out by the fine folks over at International Tattoo Art magazine and is going to be published quarterly for now. Next issue will hit stands in April.

The debut issue features the sculptural works of Chris Sickels on the cover and great features on Joey Remmers, Shaunna Peterson, Daniel Martin Diaz, Jamie Burton, gallery spotlights on M Modern, DvA Gallery, Copro Nason, 1988 and more. A pretty solid 1st issue and worth picking up.

With only a handful of magazines covering the art we all love, we need to support new upstarts like this, so keep an eye out. It seems to be all over the place, I grabbed mine at 7-11.

Speaking of, if you haven't picked up the new issue of HI-FRUCTOSE yet, it's on stands now, so don't sleep!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
